Sean M. Byrne, Esq.

ABOUT SEAN

Sean M. Byrne, Esq. is the President and managing attorney of Bach, Jacobs & Byrne, P.A.  He is an attorney and litigator whose law practice primarily includes Wills, Trusts, Estates, and Guardianship law.

Sean was recognized as a “Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2024 and 2025, an honor awarded to the top 2.5% of attorneys in Florida, after being named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2018.  Florida Trends Magazine named Sean among its “Florida Legal Elite” from 2019 to 2022 and SRQ Magazine has included Sean among its “Elite Top Attorneys” every year since 2020.

Sean earned his Juris Doctor, graduating cum laude, from The American University in Washington, D.C., and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics, graduating magna cum laude with honors, from Texas Lutheran University. Sean worked his way through night law school, gaining practical experience working at a trusts and estates firm located outside of Washington, D.C. Sean authored a prize-winning article on elder estate planning, later published by the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. His additional writings on probate administration, trust and estate litigation, and conservation tax strategies have been featured in the Sarasota County Bar Association’s publication, The Docket.

Before joining the firm, Sean served as in-house counsel for the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast (now known as Big Waters Land Trust), where he advised landowners, high-net-worth individuals, and their financial advisors on conservation easements and tax-efficient philanthropic strategies. He is also the founder of the Next Generation Conservation Attorneys, a national network supported by the Land Trust Alliance.

Sean is a member of the Florida Bar, Leadership Sarasota County, and the Sarasota County Bar Association. He previously served as Chair of the Sarasota Bar Association’s Estate Planning and Probate Section and has held director roles on several community boards. He lectures on probate, trust and guardianship litigation.

ABOUT LINDSEY

Lindsey Jones is an associate attorney focusing on Medicaid and VA planning, estate planning, and guardianship for the elderly and their caregivers.

Lindsey earned her Bachelor’s degree in Finance with a minor in Hospitality Management from the University of Central Florida and her Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. During her time at UCF, she was a member of the Chi Omega Fraternity and a Founder’s Scholar Award recipient, placing in the top 1% of her class.

While in law school, Lindsey interned at the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Clinic, helping low-income clients obtain injunctions for protection. She also gained experience at the Office of the Public Defender for the Ninth Judicial Circuit and was awarded a Pro Bono Certificate of Outstanding Achievement for her work with underserved communities.

Lindsey co-founded the Summer Foundation, a non-profit organization providing scholarships to local underprivileged children for summer camp. A fifth-generation Sarasota/Bradenton native, she enjoys reading, traveling, Sunday dinners with her family, and spending time with her dog, Trevor.

ABOUT FRED

Fred C. Jacobs, Esq. (Ret.) enjoyed a distinguished legal career specializing in tax law, estate planning, and business transactions. An AV-rated attorney since 1976, he earned a Master of Laws in Taxation and was Florida Board Certified in Tax Law. In addition to practicing law, Fred shared his expertise as an adjunct professor at Stetson Law School, teaching estate planning and taxation.

Throughout his career, Fred provided strategic counsel on tax-efficient estate planning, wealth preservation, and business structuring. He guided clients in drafting wills, trusts, and business agreements, helping them navigate complex financial and legal matters while minimizing tax burdens. His expertise extended to trust administration, probate avoidance, and retirement planning. He also advised high-net-worth individuals on wealth preservation strategies and represented clients in tax and securities disputes.

While mostly retired from the active everyday practice of law, Fred still serves as an “of-counsel” advisor to Bach, Jacobs & Byrne, P.A, helping guide some of the firm’s clients through critical financial and legal decisions especially related to complex tax matters.

1953-2025
Babette B. Bach devoted her life to advocating for the elderly and individuals with special needs. As a former Florida Board Certified Elder Law attorney and founder of Bach, Jacobs & Byrne, P.A., she specialized in Medicaid and VA planning, probate, trust administration, estate planning, disability planning, special needs trusts, and guardianships. Nationally certified as an Elder Law Expert by the National Elder Law Foundation, she was widely recognized for her expertise and dedication.

Throughout her career, Babette received numerous accolades, including recognition as a Florida Super Lawyer (2010-2017), an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and Best Lawyers’ “Lawyer of the Year” distinction. She played a key role in legislative reforms, serving as Chair of the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar and contributing to changes in Florida’s guardianship laws.

Beyond her legal achievements, Babette remained deeply committed to community advocacy, serving on boards supporting individuals with Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, and AIDS. Her dedication extended beyond the courtroom, as she played a pivotal role in expanding Medicaid benefits for thousands of Floridians. Now retired, she reflects on a career devoted to protecting the rights and dignity of the elderly and individuals with special needs. While she has stepped away from active practice, her influence continues through the policies she helped shape, the clients she served, and the colleagues and future attorneys she mentored.
